Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National Secretary H. Raja on Tuesday appealed to the party cadre to strive hard to bring a substantial number of party MLAs to Puducherry Legislative Assembly in the 2016 Assembly polls which are only a few months away.

He was taking part in a felicitation function organised for the newly-elected BJP Puducherry unit president V. Saminathan who assumed charge on Tuesday. Speaking at the function, the BJP National Secretary recalled various achievements of BJP-led National Democratic Alliance Government at the Centre. He urged the cadre to take the programmes and achievements of the Modi government to people. He also asked them to work hard with the aim of launching a fair number of BJP legislators into the Puducherry Legislative Assembly.

Without naming the ruling AINRC, Mr. Saminathan hinted that some political parties were having second thoughts about an alliance with BJP now. However, the BJP will be a deciding factor in the forthcoming Assembly polls, he said.
